Very Cool New Marble Acquisition |
Lead | ||
|
This arrived in the mail today. This is a marble game, made in China. However, this is a much higher quality item than the "Made in China" garbage
made today. The game is made of solid wood and metal. The marbles are one inch cat's eyes in green, lavender, and white. It's in great condition
with only a little cracking of the paint at some edges. The spring in the shooter mechanism is very tight. I'm thinking this was made in the 60s????
Anyone have any other ideas?

The game itself looks 40s/50s but the marbles are no older than the 60s/70s. Is that a lavender vane I detect? The box cover looks 60s/70s. Nice. David

how many vanes are in those marbles? i always thought that color combination was Mexican-made; do you think the mibs were made in China?

I think it's a mixed bag or more properly a mixed box with the marbles Vacor. Regardless it is totally cool! Heck, it even has a marble shooter of sorts.

Yes, David, that is lavender. And, Paula, these are six vane, three V types. The base glass is very slightly greenish. In construction, they look like the mibs
in some of the Kitty Cucumber boxes. The green color is identical to some I have in a KC box that is marked made in Hong Kong. Of course, in that box, the
marbles could have come from Mexico. My guess would be that the marbles are post-Japanese era, but beyond that, I'm not sure.
