:-) Hey Ron that shooter size one I pulled from beneath Sandy's nose in Marietta Ohio should go for a pile! Sandy that was the day we met your friend at the Goodwill store, I had to stop Ron from buying the whole store when the lady said everything in the back room was 29 cents. Heck he was hauling out suitcases, doggie gates and even communal trays!
Ron knows a bargain.

Back to the Ruby Bee shooter - old Ron had talked up a deal with an antique dealer - seemed he had a 5 gallon bucket of dug Marble Kings. Ron spent 20 minute or so going through them then called me back for advice - the dealer only wanted one of us at a time to look at them you see but relented for me to look at them also ... Well I am thumbing through the bucket and spy the ruby bee shooter which Ron had put back in pile... We decide not to go through with big deal but the nice dealer told me to keep the ruby bee shooter in my hand as we had already done some business with him and chatted and enjoyed his company - you should have seen ole Ron's mouth pop open -he was sputterin and spittin- the dealer told him to pick a few then .... and he did get a few nice ones. But he never let it down for the rest of the trip about that shooter....
Of course I had to listen to one story after another all the way back to Georgia about how I had taken a po' boy from Georgia....

I'd tend to agree with Don on the advice not to hold your breath for that much, but then again who knows these days for sure. Sandy may well be onto something...

...now, if my math is up to snuff then that killer, killer shooter Ruby Bee that Don pawed for free would be worth 2 to 4 times that of a 5/8 MK RB...and my old, pal, Dothan Don's recollections as to the events of the day concerning the free, SHOOTER, MK RB are almost dead center with a few deviations from the totality of truth...such as, that RB was by far the plum of what I could finger through of the 5 gallons of MKs...I was able to 'invite' Don into the room after convincing the store owner that my partner needed to see the group as well if we were to seriously consider buying the whole lot without closer inspection. You see I had his back in a 50/50 split kind of deal...wingmen are lonely flyers. Old DD must have forgotten that it was the jewlery I was inspecting and buying and chit chat during the proxess which helped to 'talk' our way into the back room...I suppose the antique dealer figured we had a little mad cash to spend or something since here was a couple of southern hicks looking for marbles with the biggest boob from GA buying jewlery for his wife...the large majority of the time I must admit ladies as well as gentlemen dealers cannot believe such nonsense...back to the SHOOTER, KILLER, MK RB and FREE...now, I also think old DD forgot to mention how much he wallered, as we say down south, in the situation and the prized snag as he cleaned, My Precious, My Precious-style, the coveted, non-costly Bee. I seem to recall a statement to the effect, and I'm paraphrasing here so pardon my readback from the stenographers report of the events of that day, "why buy the whole batch now since I got the best of the bucket for nothing...hah...Ron, you should buy the bucket now" or words to that effect seeing how my memory might have been adversely affected by the Snidely Whiplash, snatch and run. Sheeesh, me bitter? Nah, that 'experience' lasted several hundred miles on the trip back home. He paid for it...trust me...oh, how he paid. I've never seen old DD laugh so hard for so many miles...bitter? Who me?

By the way, my wife loved her jewelry and that store owner was a riot...he had us in stitches with joke after joke. He has a fantastic shop...loads of jewelry and a 5 gallon bucket of MKs in a back room minus a KILLER, SHOOTER Ruby Bee and a few '10 cents each' MKs he allowed me to have after all the tears and all.
